1. About these terms

This site is operated by Muslim Help UK, A registered charity in England and Wales, no. 1148089, with its registered postal address at Po Box 1046, London RM9 9RY and offices at 1st Floor, 255-259 Commercial Road, London E1 2BT. Where these terms say "we", "us" or "our", they mean Muslim Help UK.

By donating or by using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

2. Your donation

• All amounts on this site are in pounds sterling.
• A donation is a gift. You receive no goods or services in return for it.
• You must be 16 or over, and the money must be yours to give.
• Your gift is complete once our payment provider confirms the payment. We will email a receipt.
• We never see or store your full card number. Payment details are handled by our payment provider on their own secure systems.
• We may decline or return a donation where we have concerns about its source, or where accepting it would not be in the charity's best interests.

3. Restricted gifts and surplus funds

When you choose a specific appeal, we treat your gift as restricted to that purpose and we use it for that purpose.

A reasonable proportion of every gift covers the direct costs of delivering the work, such as transport, storage and the staff who distribute it. Our published accounts set out the split. [TO CONFIRM: whether a 100% donation policy applies, and if so how it is funded.]

4. Monthly giving

• A monthly gift continues until you cancel it.
• You can cancel at any time by emailing or phoning us, or through your bank.
• We will tell you in advance if the amount or the date ever needs to change.
• If a payment fails we may retry once, then contact you.

5. Refunds and cancellation

Donations are gifts, so the statutory cooling-off period for consumer contracts does not apply. We still think a mistake should be put right, so our policy is:

• Within 14 days. If you gave the wrong amount, gave twice by mistake, or simply changed your mind, contact us and we will refund you in full.
• After 14 days. We will refund where we reasonably can. Once funds have been committed to an emergency they may already have been spent, in which case a refund may not be possible. We will always explain the position.
• Errors on our side. If you were charged incorrectly we refund in full, always.
• Refunds go back to the original payment method, normally within 15 days of us agreeing them.
• Where Gift Aid was claimed on a refunded gift, we repay it to HMRC.

6. Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid lets us reclaim 25p from HMRC on every £1 you give, at no cost to you. By making a declaration you confirm that you are a UK taxpayer and that you will pay at least as much Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year as all the charities and community amateur sports clubs you support will reclaim on your gifts.

Tell us if you stop paying enough tax, change your name or address, or want to cancel the declaration. Gift Aid cannot be claimed on gifts made on behalf of someone else, on company donations, or where you receive a benefit in return.

7. Qurbani, Zakat and Sadaqah

• Zakat. Gifts marked as Zakat are held in a separate fund and distributed only to those eligible to receive Zakat under the eight categories.
• Qurbani. Prices are set before each season and may vary by country. We arrange the sacrifice within the permitted days and distribute the meat as soon as possible. Where a specific country becomes unreachable, we perform your Qurbani in another country where we work.
• Sadaqah and Sadaqah Jariyah. Ongoing projects such as water wells are completed as construction and access allow. Timescales are estimates, not guarantees, and conflict or weather can delay them.
• Where a project is dedicated to a named person, we do our best to record the dedication, but we cannot guarantee physical plaques or naming unless we have said so in writing.

8. The Zakat calculator

Our Zakat calculator is a guide, not a religious ruling or financial advice. Gold and silver prices change daily and the figure it produces depends on the values you enter. Please consult a qualified scholar about your own circumstances. We are not liable for a Zakat payment calculated using the tool.

9. Using this website

You agree not to:

• Use the site unlawfully, or to defraud or attempt to defraud us or anyone else.
• Introduce malicious code, or try to gain unauthorised access to the site or its servers.
• Scrape, copy or republish our content for commercial purposes without written permission.
• Interfere with the site's operation or place unreasonable load on it.

We may suspend or withdraw the site, or any part of it, at any time. We do not guarantee it will always be available or free of errors.

10. Intellectual property

The content of this site, including text, photographs, our name and our logo, belongs to us or to our licensors and is protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may view and print pages for your own non-commercial use. Any other use needs our written permission.

Where we publish photographs of the people we help, we do so with their consent and we aim to show them with dignity.

11. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, or for the content of any third-party website we link to. Links to other sites are provided for convenience only and we do not endorse or control them.

12. Complaints

Tell us and we will look into it. If we cannot resolve it, you can contact the Fundraising Regulator about our fundraising, or the Charity Commission about the charity. We follow the Code of Fundraising Practice.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force is the one published here on the day you donate.
